Last Sunday, we looked at Elijah a prophet who had just seen God move in spectacular ways, only to find himself the very next day running for his life, exhausted and ready to give up.
God didn’t rebuke him. No lecture. No demand to “pull yourself together.” Instead, an angel woke him with bread and water. “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” A great reminder that sometimes God’s care looks like breakfast and a nap.
But there was more. Elijah told God, “I’m the only one left.” He felt completely alone. And God gently reminded him: “No, you’re not. There are 7,000 others who haven’t bowed to Baal.”
It’s easy to isolate ourselves when life feels heavy. We convince ourselves no one else understands. We replay the voices of fear and criticism until they drown out the voice of God.
But the truth is: God always has people. He always builds community. You are not alone.
And that’s what we want to live out as a church - being people who really know and care for each other, so we can walk through life together.
This Sunday we’ve got the perfect opportunity to do just that.
We’re heading to Wildgoose for our church away day - a chance to rest, connect, and be reminded that you belong.
The minibus leaves St Stephen’s at 9:30am.
Come and be part of the family God’s building here.
Come and be known.
Come and be cared for.
